Virtual Travel Tuesday: Cannot leave the house?  No problem!  Travel on a virtual field trip each Tuesday.
Whimsical Wednesday: Join Mrs. Hybner as you listen to a fiction story read aloud.
Informational Thursday: We can still learn from home.  Thursdays is the day to enjoy an informational video.
Fun "Breakout" Friday": Come back to the Chandler site for a digital Breakout EDU session that you can participate from the comfort of your own home.

I hope you were able to listen to last weeks book, The Itchy Book and What Do They Do With All That Poo?.  We chose...The Itchy Book as our favorite.

Mrs. Hybner was lucky enough to be able to visit San Diego Zoo in July of 2012.  Since it is safer to be at home, let us take a virtual field trip to the San Diego Zoo.  Please follow this link (https://kids.sandiegozoo.org/index.php/animals) to visit animals' virtual exhibits, explore the videos, play games, and more.

Happy April Fools' Day!  Unfortunately, my computer is playing jokes on me so I could not get my video to work on today's read aloud.  I will continue to work on this issue.  I still hope you will listen to the silly story by famous author Dav Pilkey.

AR Bookfinder
If you would like to see which titles have Accelerated Reader quizzes available, please visit AR BookFinder.  You can use this site to search for information on AR quizzes by author, title,  or subject. You can also enter a reading range to find books on certain levels.

Educational Resources

We also offer access to the following online websites, encyclopedias and research databases. To gain access to these exciting and educational resources for you and your child to use at home, please email the librarian or ask your child’s homeroom teacher.

Pebble Go is a emergent reader research solution.  This database is user friendly for our youngest students, as well as fun and engaging.
 
 
We Give Books is a great website that has FREE e-books.  All you have to do is join (takes 10 seconds) and you can access hundreds of ebooks that are in color and best of all free! Enjoy reading online!
 
Kids.gov is a research database with access to full text magazine articles from a variety of sources.  The most useful sections for elementary provides links to government sites as well as other organizations for kids.  This site is divided into grades K-5, 6-8 and teachers.  Kids.gov is a wonderful place for students to explore and learn new information.
KidsClick! provides a safe way for students to search on the web.  This user friendly database, designed by librarians, has over 6,400 sites.
 
 
 
 
Britannica Online School Edition provides access to a full encyclopedia plus a variety of other features including educational games.
 
BrainPOP and BrainPOP Jr. are fun educational sites that have educational movies, homework help, leveled quizzes, games and activities for kids.
 
Gale is a research database with access to full text magazine articles from a variety of sources.  The most useful sections for elementary students are the Kid Infobits and Infobits Junior links.  Students can search safely on these sites and are a wonderful place for students to explore and learn new information.
