Beginning with the 2024-2025 school year, Crain Elementary School will be the site of VISD’s groundbreaking Dual Language Program.  We are pleased to announce an upcoming campus tour for families who are interested in registering their incoming kindergarten students.

These tours offer a unique opportunity for parents and guardians to learn more about this innovative program designed to empower students to become proficient in both English and Spanish while fostering an appreciation for language variety and multiculturalism.

The Dual Language program at Crain Elementary is committed to providing a holistic approach to language education.  Students enrolled in this program will benefit from a well-rounded curriculum that encourages bilingualism, biculturalism, and biliteracy.

In addition, students who successfully complete the Dual Language Program at Crain Elementary will have the opportunity to earn one High School Language credit by the time they finish 5th grade, setting them on a path toward academic success.

“We are thrilled to invite families to explore our Dual Language program through campus tours,” said Yasmina St. Jean, Principal of Crain Elementary School. “Our Dual Language Program offers a unique opportunity for students to develop proficiency in both English and Spanish while gaining a deep appreciation for language variety and multiculturalism. We believe that bilingualism is not just a skill, but a lifelong asset that opens doors to endless opportunities."

The campus tour will take place on March 25, beginning at 1:30 P.M. Interested families are encouraged to RSVP by Friday, March 22 by contacting Melissa Perez at 361-573-7453 or crain.office@visd.net

Families interested in learning more about the Dual Language program and experiencing Crain Elementary firsthand are encouraged to attend the upcoming campus tour.
